New Instructional Coach for Horizon School Division

Horizon School Division Welcomes New Instructional Coach

The Board of Trustees for The Horizon School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Crystal Carver as the new Instructional Coach commencing the 2024-2025 school year.

Ms. Carver is a third-generation teacher who has been with the Horizon School Division since 2002, teaching math, physics, and most recently astronomy at W.R. Myers High School.  Crystal also serves on the ATA Executive for the Horizon School Division as Vice President along with being the Local Women in Leadership Chair.

Ms. Carver’s education, completed at the University of Lethbridge, includes a combined Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education, majoring in Mathematics, with a minor in Science Education.

Crystal enjoys camping, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.  She has enjoyed starting her career at the high school she attended as a student and feels very fortunate to have had the chance to teach alongside some of her former teachers, as well as more recently teaching along with one of her former students as well!  Her favorite moment of her career so far has been being able to teach both of her daughters, Emily, and Rebecca.  Her hobbies include watching her children at their many activities, timing at swim meets with her husband Kurt, and puzzles.  Most recently she took up (stick) curling, proving that you are never too old to start something new!

In response to how she feels about her new adventure, Crystal states that she is so thrilled to be able to work with the Division in a new and different capacity.  She is excited to be able to learn and grow professionally in this new opportunity while simultaneously helping others learn and grow as well. She is ready for this new challenge and looks forward to working with all the staff in the division!

Please join us in congratulating Crystal on her new role as Instructional Coach for the 2024-2025 school year.
