New restrictions on Personal Mobile Devices and Access to Social Media

On June 17, Alberta's government introduced new restrictions on the use of personal mobile devices (e.g. cell phones, smart watches) and access to social media in schools. Beginning this fall, student are no longer permitted to use personal mobile devices in classrooms, or access social media sites on school networks. The Board will be discussing amending Policy IGB Personal Digital Devices on June 24 so that it aligns with the new Ministerial Order and schools will be communicating their new expectations prior to the start of the new school year.
