October 27 is World Occupational Therapy Day
Occupational Therapy (OT) is a regulated health profession that empowers people of all ages to overcome health-related barriers in their everyday lives so they can do more and live better.
In schools, Occupational Therapists help students develop behavioural, social, organizational skills and manage self-care skills needed to succeed at school. Consulting with teachers, making changes to the school environment, and introducing assistive technology that supports learning for students with learning needs. Occupational Therapsits can support students with:
- Self-regulation
- Mood challenges/anxiety
- Coping skills
- Executive/cognitive functioning

Horizon is lucky to have an Occupational Therapist who works across the Division to ensure our students are able to learn and navigate the school as best as possible.
