Appointment of New Superintendent/ CEO

The Board of Trustees of Horizon School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Adam Browning as the new Superintendent of Schools, effective August 1, 2025.

Dr. Browning brings 19 years of educational experience, having served as a teacher, principal in K-6 and K-12 schools, and most recently as Director of Learning with Palliser School Division. In this role, he has overseen key areas such as curriculum implementation, English Language Learning, Early Learning, Indigenization, and division-wide professional learning. He has also supported areas of Human Resources, strategic planning, data gathering and reporting, and budgeting.

A champion of collaborative leadership, instructional excellence, and student success, Adam has a proven track record of fostering positive relationships, advancing equitable learning environments, and driving continuous improvement. His work as a sessional instructor at the University of Lethbridge further reflects his commitment to developing future educators, particularly in the areas of literacy and early childhood education.

Dr. Browning’s leadership philosophy is grounded in collaboration, best practices, and a deep commitment to rural education.

In his new role, Dr. Browning will work closely with the Board of Trustees, school and system leaders, staff, parents, and community members to further the division’s mission of engaging and empowering all learners. Recognized for his ability to inspire and support educators, he is eager to build upon Horizon’s strong foundation and drive student-centered success.
