Associate Superintendent - Programs & Human Services
Anita Richardson brings a breadth of experience as an exemplary educator and administrator with experience at the elementary, junior high, and senior high level across two provinces. Over the course of her career, she has served as an assistant principal at the senior high level, and, as principal of four different schools encompassing K-12 and alternative education. Anita’s experience has primarily been in rural contexts. Known to be a student - centered leader who strives for excellence, Anita is committed to ongoing, meaningful collaboration with all staff and stakeholders to advance the success of every student.
After earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Simon Fraser University, Anita taught in both urban and rural British Columbia before entering school administration. She was awarded her Master of Education degree (Educational Leadership) in 2010 from the University of Calgary while in her first principal role. Anita relocated to Alberta in 2012, and is currently working on the Canadian Human Resource Professional designation and hopes to write the National Knowledge Exam later this fall.
Anita’s career highlights center around strengthening school and jurisdiction cultures. She believes strongly in the response to instruction and intervention framework, enhancing a sense of community within and between schools, and incorporating effective classroom practices.
