Lomond Community School participated in the CANstruction Project for the first time this year in Lethbridge. Students came up with the idea of making a Hockey Arena and with a lot of help from Mr. Jason Cayford they made it a reality. The project used 8,000 soup and tuna cans. This structure used double the amount of cans out of all the competitors. You can go to Center Village Mall in Lethbridge and view all the structures in the competition. With a food bank donation you can vote for your favorite.
We would like to thank our sponsors – Munton & Company, Ben’s Quality Meats, College Ford Lincoln Ltd., Maverick Concrete Ltd., LaFarge, KB Heating & Air Conditioning Ltd., Lethbridge Basement Ltd., and Stranville Living Ltd. Also a big thanks to Walmart (South Lethbridge) for selling the cans at cost for this project, and Canadian Tire for unloading the pallets of cans and moving them to our build site in Center Village Mall.
