Reds Flashing… No Passing
Did you know? It is illegal to pass a school bus when the red lights are flashing and if you are caught or reported doing so you may receive a $543.00 fine and lose 6 demerit points.
The Student Transportation Association of Alberta (STAA) is currently running a "Red Light Campaign". As a member of the STAA, Horizon School Division will be distributing flyers at various locations to remind motorists of the risks of passing a school bus while children are loading or unloading.
The flyers give examples of various traffic scenarios and explain how it is best to proceed when a school bus has its lights flashing and the stop arm activated.
By following these simple rules we can ensure that we are doing our best to guarantee students arrive safely to school and home each day.
