The early childhood years from birth to six years of age a child’s brain is growing and changing at a rapid rate. All of a child’s experiences in this time period will have an impact on their overall development and will help shape their future success. In recognition of the importance of this stage of development, Alberta Education promotes early learning opportunities for children. This allows the opportunity to both identify any possible learning challenges as well as support a child developmental needs in all areas.
Horizon School Division believes that every child should have access to quality programming that is based on current research in child development and early learning. Our Early Childhood Services programming is tailored to meet individual needs and promotes success for every student.
Kindergarten programs are FREE and available to ALL children. Fees are required for Early Learning as these programs are not currently government funded. Children assessed with developmental delays which meet Alberta Education criteria may qualify for special funding.
